Get operators back in control

A failed HMI can leave a running machine with no way to monitor it, change settings or clear alarms. AST repairs operator interface panels, touchscreen HMIs, industrial monitors and CNC display units from all major manufacturers.

We diagnose each HMI at the component level and quote on the damage we find. Repairing the original panel keeps your application, screens and wiring as they are, so there's nothing to reprogram or re-cut.

Before you send an HMI

Back up the application file (for example the .MER/.APA file on a PanelView Plus or the project in TIA Portal or WinCC for Siemens) if you can. Tell us the catalog number from the label, the firmware revision if known, and the symptom.

Process

How we repair an HMI

  1. Incoming inspection

We record the catalog number, firmware and symptom, and inspect for cracked glass, burn marks and liquid damage.

  2. Power and boot test

The panel is powered on the bench to see whether it boots, displays and responds to touch.

  3. Component repair

Failed touchscreens, LCDs, backlights or inverters, power supplies and board components are replaced.

  4. Application test

A running application is loaded or kept, and touch calibration, keys and display are checked across the full screen.

  5. Communication test

Ethernet, serial and fieldbus ports are tested against a PLC before the unit ships.

Questions

HMI Repair FAQ

Can you repair a PanelView Plus?

Yes. We repair Allen-Bradley PanelView Plus 6 and 7, PanelView Component and older PanelView Standard terminals, including touchscreens, displays, backlights and power supplies.

Do you repair Siemens HMIs?

Yes. We repair SIMATIC Comfort, Basic, MP and TP panels and older Siemens operator panels.

Will I lose my HMI program?

Usually not. If the internal memory is intact your application stays on the unit. We still recommend you back it up before shipping.

Is it cheaper to repair or replace an HMI?

Repair usually costs less, and it avoids converting your application to a newer model. If repair isn't economical, we'll tell you and can offer a unit from stock.

What warranty do HMI repairs carry?

A one-year in-service warranty.

Line down? Send us the part number.

Rush evaluations are completed the same day. Most quotes are based on the damage we find, not the price of a new unit.
